The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Using the Earth-Pro Terra Soil System
Welcome to the Earth-Pro Terra Soil System, a regenerative, easy-to-use program designed to help anyone — even total beginners — grow vibrant, healthy plants from seed to bloom.
This guide will walk you through how to prepare your soil, use your Earth-Pro products, and monitor your pH and EC (electrical conductivity) for optimal nutrient uptake throughout your plant’s entire life cycle.
Step 1: Preparing Your Soil
Recommended Soil Mix
For best results, create a balanced and living soil foundation using a 50/50 blend of:
- Fox Farm Ocean Forest – rich in organic compost, fish and crab meal, and forest humus.
- Fox Farm Happy Frog – filled with beneficial microbes, mycorrhizae, and aged humus for improved root health.
YOU CAN USE ANY QUALITY BASE SOIL YOU CHOOSE - WE SIMPLY RECOMMEND FOX FARM BECAUSE IT IS READILY AVAILABLE TO GARDENERS NATIONWIDE. THE SYSTEM WILL WORK WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF BASE SOILS. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE REACH OUT TO US.
Amending with Earth-Pro Terra Matrix
In a large container or wheelbarrow, mix your 50/50 soil base thoroughly.
Add Earth-Pro Terra Matrix directly into the soil and mix in thoroughly before planting:
- Dosage: 2–3 tablespoons per gallon of soil.
- Reapply Terra Matrix as a top-dress every 2-3 weeks during the grow and flowering cycles. Lightly scratch it into the top 3-4 inches of soil and water it in with a feeding of the other Terra products per the feeding schedule.
Why this works:
Terra Matrix introduces minerals, enzymes, beneficial fungi, and botanicals into your soil, creating a living ecosystem that continually feeds your plants.
Step 2: Watering and Nutrient Schedule
The Earth-Pro Terra system is designed for simple, consistent care. You’ll be using three liquid products — Terra Charge, Terra Zyme, and Terra Boost — along with your Terra Matrix soil amendment.
Mixing Your Nutrient Solutions
All Earth-Pro liquid products can be mixed directly into your watering can or reservoir. Always shake bottles well before use. Add water to the container BEFORE mixing in the liquid products. Do not mix the concentrated liquid products together first - always add them to fresh clean water.
Vegetative Stage (Weeks 1–3)
Goal: Establish strong roots and healthy green growth.
Use:
- Terra Charge: 5-7 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Zyme: 5-7 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Matrix: Top-dress 2-3 tbsp per gal of soil every 2-3 weeks
Feeding Frequency: Every other watering (about 1-2 times per week).
Light Schedule: 18 hours on / 6 hours off
pH Range: 6.5-6.8
EC Range: .57-.75
Why this works:
Terra Charge supplies humic and fulvic acids to energize microbial activity, while Terra Zyme boosts enzyme digestion, converting organic material into readily available nutrients for rapid plant growth.
Early Bloom Stage (Weeks 4–9)
Goal: Encourage flower formation and essential oil production.
Use:
- Terra Charge: 8 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Zyme: 8 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Boost: 7 mL per gallon of water (begin Week 3 end week 7)
- Terra Matrix: Top-dress 2-3 tbsp per gal of soil every 2-3 weeks
Feeding Frequency: Every other watering (alternate feed → plain water → feed).
Light Schedule: 12 hours on / 12 hours off
pH Range: 6.5 - 6.9
EC Range: .75 - .88
Why this works:
Terra Boost adds enzyme-digested organic meals and flower-supporting herbs like Chamomile, Yarrow, and Kelp, helping plants channel energy into abundant blooms while Terra Zyme and Terra Charge maintain soil balance and microbial vigor.
Late Bloom & Ripening (Weeks 10–11)
Goal: Strengthen flowers, enhance aroma, and finish cleanly.
Use:
- Terra Charge: 6-7 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Zyme: 6-7 mL per gallon of water
- Terra Matrix: Top-dress every 2 weeks (final top-dress in Week 10)
- Stop using Terra Boost after Week 9
Feeding Frequency: Every other watering
Light Schedule: 12 hours on / 12 hours off
pH Range: 6.7 – 6.9
EC Range: .75 - .80
Why this works:
In the final phase, plants shift from building to ripening. Terra Charge continues to provide bioavailable minerals while Terra Zyme keeps the root zone clean and efficient. A mild nutrient solution ensures a smooth, flavorful harvest.
Step 3: Checking and Adjusting pH & EC
Why It Matters
- pH affects how well plants absorb nutrients.
- EC (Electrical Conductivity) measures how concentrated your nutrient solution is.
Tools You’ll Need
- pH meter or liquid pH test kit
- An EC/TDS meter (We recommend a bluelab)
How to Check
- Fill your watering container with water.
- Add Earth-Pro liquids according to the feeding schedule.
- Stir well and test the pH and EC.
- Adjust if needed:
- To lower pH, add a few drops of pH Down (citric acid or phosphoric acid).
- To raise pH, use pH Up (potassium carbonate).
- Record your readings to track plant response over time.
Target Ranges
| Growth Stage | pH Range | EC Range (mS/cm) |
|---|---|---|
| Seedling / Early Veg | 6.3-6.6 | .57-.60 |
| Vegetative | 6.5-6.8 | .64-.78 |
| Early Flower | 6.5-6.8 | .75-.88 |
| Late Flower | 6.7-6.9 | .75-.78 |
Step 4: Observing and Adjusting
- Healthy Leaves: Vibrant green, no curling or discoloration.
- Too Much Nutrient: Tips of leaves burn or curl down — reduce EC.
- Too Little Nutrient: Leaves fade or yellow early — increase EC slightly.
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Let the soil dry completely before watering again.
Optional Regenerative Practices
To further enhance your soil’s health, you can:
- Add a small layer of compost or worm castings monthly.
- Mulch the top layer with straw, leaves, or bark to retain moisture.
- Rotate or reuse your soil with continued Terra Matrix top-dressings to build fertility over time.
